I'm not a quitter but I wanna be!!
So it's almost the end of week #2 in my long process of weight loss. I am so frustrated right now!! On Friday's all of the girls in the office order out for lunch. Do you know how frustrating it is to order in a healthy lunch?? Let me try to explain this. The more you weigh...the more points you get to use. I am allowed 28 points on the weight watchers program. All the seemingly healthy choices are not so healthy. I suppose a lot of people would think that a caesar salad would be healthier than an order of fries. Not so. The fries actually have less points believe it or not. The dressing in the ceasar salad is full of fat. I went through my list of take out restaurants and then had to figure out points for each of those bloody items. For example...a spicy chicken sandwich from Wendy's has 8 points....a small piece of pizza has 8 points...my chicken sante fe stromboli with ceasar salad from Boston Pizza .... a whopping 24 points. Does this mean that I have to forgo my friday lunches with the girls? Do I have to become a rabbit and live off of salad greens with icky low-fat dressing??
I'm not going to give up on losing weight, because I'm serious. But man...this sure is harder than I remember!!
I have to give mucho credit-oh to my brother-in-law-oh!! He's lost quite a bit of weight and has kept it off. Billy...uuur my heeeroh!!

you're right...many things you'd think were healthier choices aren't always so.
I guess the best thing to do is to choose something that will fill you up the most. For instance, if that chicken burger you like is the same amount of points as a slice of pizza, wouldn't the sandwich be more filling?
Also, think about food groups...sometimes it's better to choose something even when it has more points. For example, a cup of 1% milk is 2 points, but you need calcium so only drinking water isn't healthy even though it has 0 points.
Something else to consider...if you know that the girls always order in lunch on Friday's, save some of your extra weekly points for those days. I don't know how much you like Subway, but they have a lot of healthy choices there.
It's a long, tough road, but you can do it, girl!
I have the extra weekly points...but the more of those I use...the less I lose and I haven't lost a pound yet this week, which has me frustrated. Today I ordered the chicken taco salad which comes in a fried taco shell. I threw out 80% of the shell. I'm too polite to pick the shell out of the garbage...so I threw it out before I sat down to eat. Then used a bit of salsa on some of the salad (0 points) and used caloriewise dressing for the rest. But mom & dad are coming down tomorrow...so I'm worried about what points I'll have after tomorrow. It's a good thing I like salads!!
